  • at some point you have to realize that you actually have to read to understand the nuance of anything. we as a society are obsessed with summarization, likely as a result of the speed demanded by capital. from headlines to social media (twitter being especially egregious with the character limit), people take in fragments of knowledge and run with them, twisting their meaning into a kaleidoscope that dilutes the message into nothing. yes, brevity is good, but sometimes the message, even when communicated with utmost brevity, requires a 300 page book. sorry.

A 7.0 erthquake hit Turkey and Greece , resulting in the collapse of at least 30 buildings in the Turkish city Izmir. As of now 12 people died and over 400 are injured. People are still trapped under the rubble. The earthquake also hit the eastern Aegean Sea island of Samos, Greece where two teenagers were killed. It also triggered a mini-tsunami that flooded some parts of Izmir and Samos.

My heart and prayers go out to everyone affected by the earthquake & tsunami 💔

  • Update:

The death toll is at 27 and over 750 people are injured in Izmir

If you can pls donate to the Izmir Earthquake Relief Fund

  • ⚠️Update (3’rd November 2020):

The death toll keeps rising and has surpassed 100. Rescue teams are still searching for people and animals trapped under the rubble. Yesterday they were able to save 3 year old Elif after more than 65 hours and just today they rescued 4 year old Ayla after 91 hours.

However, time is running out and they need urgent help! All those people affected by the earthquake have lost their families, home, memories, basically everything in a matter of minutes! Many are currently staying in tents, traumatized by what happened and have no place to go to.

On top of that, the economy in Turkey is really bad. Most of them can’t afford to buy basic necessities such as a bottle of water or bread etc.

    🚨If you can, please donate!

    1 Euro = 9,89 Turkish Lira

    1 USD Dollar = 8,43 Turkish Lira

    1 Pound = 11,01 Turkish Lira

Even 1 €/$/£ helps a lot! If you can’t donate, pls reblog and share to raise awareness!

Since Turkey doesn’t have paypal or Venmo etc., the only option is to donate by using a credit or debit card! Many legit organizations one can donate to are only available in Turkish, so I looked for ones that are reliable and available in English

    Donate here:

    - Izmir Earthquake Relief Fund

    - Akut Search and Rescue Organisation

  • Why do emotionally unavailable people date?

  • In my experience, some don’t realize they‘re emotionally available. They were raised by other emotionally unavailable people and think it’s normal. They want to be loved/love, but love also terrifies them so they hurt people whilst trying to workout their own inner emotional conflict. That’s why they yo-yo between ghosting you (or telling you they’re not interested) and wanting to keep you around. They like the feeling of being liked, they may even actually like you, but they’re horrified of having to delve deeper.

That said: they shouldn’t date. Not until they heal emotionally, but you can’t heal if you don’t realize your behavior is abnormal. They get into relationships, and end up hurting folks in the process. They usually end up in a committed relationship with another emotionally unavailable person (or someone who is okay with the emotional neglect) and emotionally neglect their kids. And the cycle continues.

Just a note: This isn’t a movie, you loving them just the right amount will not fix their emotional issues. It’s not your job, and you’re not a bad person for not wanting to take on that task.
